Who this is for

You might be here because…

The six situations we hear most. If yours isn't here, tell us anyway — that's what the last box on the form is for.

  • I got a letter from the tax office and can't read it.

NTA notices and e-Tax are Japanese-only. One wrong field can mean a penalty — or a missed refund.

    Guide: filing your return
  • My company gives me RSUs. What does Japan tax?

Vesting, selling and the year you became resident all matter — and HR won't tell you.

    Guide: RSUs & stock options
  • Am I being taxed twice — here and back home?

Treaties, foreign tax credits and the five-year rule decide it. Fixable, but rarely automatic.

    Guide: double taxation
  • My parents' estate is overseas. Does Japan care?

Often yes — inheritance and gift tax can reach 55%, and your residency history sets the scope.

    Guide: inheritance for foreigners
  • I'm freelance or starting a company. Where do I begin?

Blue-form status, consumption tax and the invoice system: three first-year decisions that are hard to undo.

    Guide: freelancing in Japan
  • I'm leaving Japan. What do I owe on the way out?

Exit tax, a tax representative and your final return — best arranged before your flight, not after.

The form above — what you need, your status, and anything that makes your case unusual. English only is fine.

Within 2 business days

We choose one accountant

We match on what actually decides fit: your income type, visa, home country, and the language you'll work in — then check they have capacity now.

You decide

They email you directly, in English

You talk to the accountant, not to us. Most start with a paid initial consultation; you'll know the fee before you book. If it's not right, tell us and we'll try again.

What it costs. Our introduction is free. Accountants typically charge ¥10,000–¥40,000 (+10% tax) for a 50–60 minute first consultation, and quote the ongoing work after that.
Who's behind this

A publisher, not a call centre.

Takumi Miyata, founder of Guidly Inc.
“Most ‘find an accountant’ sites hand you a directory and a phone number. We hand you one name, chosen after reading your request ourselves — because the wrong match can cost far more than any fee.”

Questions people ask before they send the form

Frequently asked

Is this really free? What's the catch?

Free for you, always. Accounting firms pay us a referral fee only if you become a client — the same way they'd pay for advertising, except we send them one well-matched person instead of a hundred clicks. Fees you pay the accountant are the same whether you found them through us or not.

How much do English-speaking accountants charge?

Most start with a paid initial consultation of ¥10,000–¥40,000 (plus 10% consumption tax) for 50–60 minutes. Ongoing fees depend on your income, visa status and complexity, and are agreed with the accountant at that first meeting. We'll tell you the range before we introduce anyone.

Do you cover my area?

Yes — most firms in our network are in Tokyo and Osaka, but nearly all consult online, and we've matched people in every region of Japan.

What languages besides English?

English is guaranteed. Several partners also work in Chinese, Korean or Vietnamese — tell us your preference in the form.

How quickly will I hear back?

We reply personally within two business days, usually sooner. If your deadline is close, say so in the last box and we'll prioritise it.

Do I even need an accountant?

If you only have one salary and no side income, probably not. If you have RSUs, investments, crypto, overseas assets, a business, or you're unsure of your residency status — a good accountant usually saves more than they cost, and prevents penalties.

Ready when you are

Send us two minutes of your time. We'll send back one name.

No account, no phone call, no list of twenty firms. Just the accountant we'd pick if it were our own return.

Replies come from Takumi, our founder — within two business days.
